Update

So i figured i would update my blog only because Melodie keeps looking at my blog checking for updates. :).. So here ya go Melodie :)..

Dylan had an echo done on the 12th of November but unfortunately i don't have those results yet. :(.. Dylan is doing very well.. He talks all the time. Hes now grabbing onto things and wont let them go. He loves to kick and laugh. Its actually quit funny at times. But then it gets frustrating too because he wont stop. He kicks in the same spot over and over again. He loves animals now. He will laugh at my dog when hes just sitting there doing nothing. He can kinda roll over but not quit yet. He is completely off the blood thinners.. YAY!.. but thats about all for now

Melodie i will keep updating this just for you :)

D-TGA

I had miscarried in April of 2007, and was informed that its gonna be hard for me to have kids. I found out i was pregnant in September of 2008. This is my first baby. Found out i was having a boy in February of 2009. I was very excited . In March of 2009 I found out that my precious baby boy Dylan has a Congenital Heart Defect called Transposition of the Great Arteries. Its where the two main arteries in your heart are switched., Of course it had to be corrected with surgery. We met the surgeon, Got a tour of the PTCICU and we thought we were ready. On June 8th, 2009 I was induced. I was in labor for 2 and a half days. I wasn't very happy, Dylan didn't end up coming out until June 10th, 2009 at 4:45pm. I couldn't get to hold my little man because they had to get him on heart medication to keep this hole in his heart open. They took him to the NYICU, for a bit, Once the Epidural wore off i was able to see my handsome man for just a couple of minutes because they had to do an emergency procedure on another little baby. I was taken to my room where I would recover for a couple of days. I figured hey ill be out of here in a day or so I cant wait. I got a phone call from the PTCICU in my room. They had informed me that they were going to have Dylan transferred up there. That was perfectly fine with me. I informed my boyfriend Ryan that i was going to use the restroom and then we can go up to the PTCICU to see our son since i didnt get to see him for very long. Well i went into the restroom and ended up getting really light headed and fell over. Hitting my leg really hard on the floor leaving a bruise. I got up and all of a sudden large blood clots were on the floor. I called the nurse in and i found out i was hemorrhaging. I got two shots of morphine in my IV and one shot of morphine in my butt. That did nothing to me. I still felt all the pain. Bare in mind this was just only a few hours after i gave birth. The doctor literally had her whole arm in me just trying to get the clots all cleared out. I was screaming my head off. And thought i was going to lose my life and leave my beautiful son and boyfriend behind. Well after all that was done. We finally went to see my little man. I cried of course. I was released from the hospital on Saturday June 13th. Dylan's surgery was scheduled for June 15th but he ended up getting a fever so they had to do many testes to see where the fever was coming from or to see if it was just the medication. We were finally able to hold him on June 16th. That was the first time we got to hold him.We were informed that all the tests came back negative and that the surgery was scheduled for June 18th at 10:00am. This time it was for real. Come June 18th we went to the hospital and said a prayer over our little boy. They nurse had got the phone call saying the OR is ready and they took him off all the machines and started to wheel him away. I cried so hard and was very nervous and scared all day. Finally the nurse came and got us saying the surgery went fantastic and that Dylan will be back in his room in 10-15 minutes. We informed our families and friends that the surgery went fantastic. The nurse took us into the room and we started to cry because its so hard seeing a 8 day old baby with all these tubes and wires coming out. I have to say it was the hardest thing a mother or father could ever see. A couple of days passed and Dylan finally was able to get his sternum closed. Another couple of days passed and Dylan was able to stay awake and not have to be sedated. Once the draining tube came out and a tube in him heart came out were were able to hold him again. Once all the other medications were getting stopped we were able to hold him whenever we wanted. It finally came to June 29th where we were finally able to take him home. We were very excited to finally bring our new family member home for the first time. He now weights 11 Pounds 12 Ounces. His chest is all healed up now its just a nice scar. We were very lucky that we found out before he was born. And also very lucky that we were seeing Dr. Padrone every month. I was considered high risk because of my blood clot back in June of 2007.
